My Letter on your 5th Birthday!

This June 9 will mark your 5th Birthday!

I will officially be a mother to a 5 years old girl! What a roller coaster of mixed feelings I am currently going through!

And What a responsibility I have ahead of me! Although you are still in kindergarten, yet you are looking more and more like a grown up with every passing day! The little baby I once held and nursed is now transforming into a big girl...and I wish I can make time stand still to hold on to you a little longer!

However, I have decided to write this to you, my big 5-year-old, the one who stole my heart a very long time ago!

Dear Yasmeenati,

Looks like this day have arrived, you are 5 years old now! You’ve  been a blessing from the start.

I'm still clueless how time is flying by so quickly!! Sometimes, I can't even remember how it was before you and your elder brother joined our family and filled our hearts.

First of all, I am super proud of you. I admire how independent you are (although it does drives me insane when YOU put your foot down and demand your school outfits everyday!!)
My beautiful little one, you are as sweet as rose petals, yet as hard as steel. I know this amazing trait will open up so many doors for you in the future.

I love it how innocent, sweet, and caring you are. These are GOOD traits that I pray you will never lose even after you learn about the REAL world and how things goes around!

I love how you cuddle up and shower me with your non-stop kisses! (I really hope you will still want to do that when you are way older!!) I love the way you look at me like I’m one of your favorite people on this planet. I pray that I can still be someone you’re proud of, someone that makes you happy, someone that you’ll still want to share everything with when you realize that I’m NOT perfect.

However, and even though I’m far from that perfect MOM, I still have a huge duty towards you, now that you are becoming a big girl.

I would like to share some TIPS, (which might be complicated for you now) but I'll constantly make sure to remind you of all of them!

4- First of all always stay true to you, fall in love with yourself first, and know you are more than enough!  Don’t ever be fearful of anyone’s perception of you, because they can’t make you feel inferior without your consent.

1- NEVER say you aren’t good enough.
You are more than good enough. As a matter of fact; You’re the only you there is and God created you perfectly to be exactly who you are. No one can be like you. So don’t be like them. Be like you.
You’re always smart enough and pretty enough.

2- Embrace and accept YOURSELF.
Always be you, the true you. Start now, because as we get older we get harder on ourselves.
People will say mean things and make you feel as though you’re not enough, or that you have to change to fit in.
They will exclude you & some will be cruel.  They will try to lead you to make bad choices, to go against what we are teaching you, and you will make mistakes.  Lots and lots of mistakes. BUT, when we learn to LOVE OURSELVES, when you take that pressure away of caring about what other people think, then you’ll feel free.
You’ll see what you’re really capable of.

3- Never give up on your DREAMS.
You might think the impossible, but you will never know what you’re capable of until you TRY.
Always Try out, and do it again when you fail. Because YOU WILL fail. But you have to be ready to jump back up and leap again. You don’t get anywhere in life by sitting still. YET, never lose sight of the big picture. Dream big and if you work hard, you will get there. Just remember that nothing will get handed to you—you do actually have to work hard for it.

4- Never say never.
Because if you do, you are closing doors in your life!. Always be open-minded, keep investing in yourself. Never stop learning, seek your own opportunities. You’ll never regret looking back knowing that you’ve given YOURSELF a chance.

5- Never LOSE HOPE & FAITH
Finally, and most importantly, don’t let the circumstances of life ever keep you down. Always adjust your crown and keep going. Always believe you are a fearless and wonderful person. You cannot ever, ever lose faith. Faith in humanity, faith in yourself. Faith in God.
While I was growing up, I’ve crossed over to the dark side and told God “I give up” so many times!!
I’m not proud of that phase, how I was constantly weak and defeated. But you know what? I tried not to LOSE my FAITH!

Part of me wishes I could spare you from the pain that you are bound to experience.  But I WILL NOT!  We learn more from our mistakes & it's at those lowest point in our lives when WE LEARN & DISCOVER the TRUE US!

YET, through all of this, I want you to remember one thing, my flower girl.
To me, you are just perfect.
To me, you are everything.

I'll be here to listen to your worries.  I'll be here to hold your hand when you're feeling weak & doubtful. I will be here to wipe your tears for every failure you might face.

I'll do my best to always be your safety net.  A place where you can be yourself, your happy self.

Love You
