Don't you just hate this word?
Maybe not. But here's why I do!!
It all started when I was 11yrs old!!! yup we go way back!! I come from a heavy built family, thus I use to look the biggest of my class..& for a girl; well that was horrible!! But I didn't care as I had no idea I looked different, till my sweet classmates pointed it out & bullied me through it!!!
Till the day they convinced me I should do something called DIET..
I fell for the trap & that's how my ugly nightmare started!!!
You see (I learned years later) that girls in their early teens, in their peak-east time of body developing and growing up should not do diets unless they are severely over weight!! I started eating diet food, and instead of loosing 2kgs I gained an extra 2kg!!! Freaking out and getting more pressure from the girls they introduced me to diet pills!! That's when my nightmare part 2 started!!! (Lesson learned very well & hopefully I will educate my kids enough about making healthy food/body choices to prevent them such ordeal)
In the end, I gained more weight....from having to loose 1-2kgs I ended up with 6-7kgs!! And ever since, I got stuck in the never ending YOYO diet!! Looking for quick fix...trying every single Diet Craze...& the list goes On & ON!!
After marriage and kids I gave up the whole idea...
I realized it was too stressful...I wasn't enjoying myself, my time, or life & that wasn't fun at all.. I visited lots of different dietitians, but I felt worse for wasting my money and failing to commit... thus more guilt and stress (which are my main 2 reasons for eating more)!!!
Anyways...recently we decided to do a family diet :) yup since our lives changed once we entered parenthood (lifestyle -outings & eating out)
We decided to do a family diet!!!
In the end our kids eat what we eat... and to Keep telling them they can't EAT it, but we can cause we are adults is extremely tiring and frustrating!! Thus our family diet is our new healthy style of eating!!
Starting A NEW Lifestyle!!
We simply started with these small & simple, yet powerful changes!!
1- Eating OUT!
2- Food at HOME!!
3- Snacks & Munching!
We have set our minds on our NEW Goal....we are trying hard to change and replace as much as we can...we started counting our calories and monitoring what we are eating on daily basis!! Which by the way was a shocking experience to learn the amount of calories that was in all our previously consumed meals!!!
Living & eating healthy by choice is different, more fun, and challenging.... especially if you have other family members involved!!
And I have to admit... it is more fun, challenging, and motivating when you have a support buddy ;)
I will not think of all the kgs I still have to loose (to get back for my pre-baby weight)!!
It will be a small family project and whatever we loose will be our added bonus (in my mind it makes the task simple easy and more realistic than saying I have to drop 10-15kg)!!
We will simply try to follow these guidelines for a better, healthy, & stress-free life :)
