Review: Family Day Out in Faqra

10/18/2016

This year we decided to explore all the touristic monuments in Lebanon along with our kids. We wanted to personally expose them to our cultural history and let them experience and live it in their own way.

During the  summer we visited Tyr and Sidon attractions along to Jbeil and recently we added Faqra Ruins to our list.

Each attraction had it's own unique charm which made our family experience a lovely one.

Couple of Sunday's ago we took off for a road trip in which we ended in Faqra! It was about time we visit the Ruins and so I'm sharing with you our latest Family day out in Faqra Area.

Picture
Situated up on a hill in Mount Lebanon in Kfardibian area, at an elevation of 1550m, Faqra is unique for its remarkable monuments which included: temples, columns, altars and rock cut tombs.

One of the most striking features of this temple is that it was partially cut and built into the living rock.

Entrance Fee was 3,000 L.L per adults and kids for free.

The site glows with a natural beauty, with magnificent rocks . It's worth visiting.

A very well preserved site where you will find a Byzantine Church, next to a Roman Temple. We enjoyed the walk between the narrow passages created by the natural stones. Lots of open space for the kids to freely run around. Autumn added it's warm colorful charm to our experience.

Listening to the trees and watching all the natural colors surrounding us was just mesmerizing,

Lunch Time

By 2:00 p.m the kids were cranky, sleepy, and very hungry, we had to eat fast and Jalset Faqra facing the ruins was our perfect destination.

This hidden gem offers both Lebanese Mezza and an outdoor picnic experience . The venue had a small playground for the kids, a small water fountain in the middle of the shaded area, and wooden benches scattered for the picnic area.

Sitting under the trees and listening to the water while watching the other families preparing their BBQs while chatting and kids playing around gave it all a warm relaxing feeling.

Food was tasty and service was nice.  A very needed and refreshing break.
Last but not least, as we were heading back to we decided to stop by the Tower facing the temple next to the main road.

The view from the top was just spectacular!
When in Faqra also don't miss out on visiting nature's most spectacular wonders, a bridge named "Stone Bridge" or "The Natural Bridge" with an arch measuring thirty eight meters.
