Review: Family Getaway in Shouf area!!

10/1/2015

Things to do in the area!!

It's no secret that if you are longing for well preserved green areas in Lebanon than Shouf should be your destination!! This area holds one of the biggest forests Shouf Biosphere Reserve which I highly recommended for a visit & to spend a family day during my previous posts (feel free to re-check here)...
Picture
Sightseeing....visiting touristic attractions our pick was Deir el Amar! Of course there is Famous Beit el Dine & Moussa Castle among others!!
Besides the charming Barouk Forest there's also lots of other captivating spots not to-be missed as family destinations... And when you have young kids you would definitely need to sleep in!!
There's lots of interesting options which you can choose from for your family getaway..however I would recommend one which I've personally tried, loved, and cherished a lot for sentimental reasons!

Heading towards our destination!
My 1st visit to this gem was almost 2 yrs ago.. I was 8 month pregnant & we were looking for a cool, calm, detox family getaway before our #2 arrives & we couldn't have picked any other place to unwind, chill out, and spend special quality fun times before our hands get super full!!  Mir Amin Palace Hotel in BeitEdine, was spot on!

Going back last week for EID celebrations was as if we stepped back into this out-of-the world fairy tale!! As if time stopped still in this magical 19th century palace!!
Sharing with you my combined past & present experience for an ultimate family getaway in one of the loveliest places in Shouf area!

The Venue!

This magnificent place was once a residence of the last Amirs of Lebanon back in the 19th century, and has been restored into a splendid 5 hotel overlooking the Shouf Mountains. You’ll be simply mesmerized by the beauty of this place, & the tranquility of the area!

Sit under this magnificent tree...relax and enjoy its shades!

Tempting!! Dive into the cold water, enjoy the pool with a view! Swimming pool got a massive mosaic rumored to be installed in it as early as the Amir’s days.

The Rooms!!!

Spacious Suite, decorated with antique beds & Vintage Furniture, vibrant warm colors...a unique combination for ultimate comfort!

A Royal seating besides the ancient walls to enjoy your coffee while overlooking the panoramic view of the Shouf Mountains :)

The Buffet!!

If you don't wish you spend the night, you can still indulge in this experience for the day!! Book your table next to the rails & enjoy an incredible panoramic view...Open buffet is for $44/adults (excluding alcohol) & free for kids under 5 years!!! Food was rich, tasty, and appealing!!

Note: Chicken Shawarma was really good....dessert buffet was very tempting however I was too full to enjoy it all!!
Picture
Rich selection of tradional & old school Lebanese Mezza... Shawarma Station & Saj Bread live!! And 2 Bedouin Men playing live duet on traditional Bedawin instruments and singing lovely old songs!

The Playground...

Picture
Shaded kids area with 2 swings, a big slide playground & trampoline! However, it's across the road and adults supervision is very recommended!
After enjoying the great buffet & satisfied our kids need for an outdoor playing time surrounded by trees and fresh air, away from pollution, traffic and noise we continued our lovely discovery walk around the place.... We saw the underground cave that was built hundreds of years ago, a private fountain and outdoor area, an imperial suite that contained a charming “Mcharabiyya”, and the “Haramlek”, & a royal suite complete with 3 rooms!!

Let the pictures say it all!!

A beautiful end to a great time!

Finally, it was time to leave this enchanting place after we spent one amazing, refreshing, & super family friendly day!!

Not only do I highly recommend visiting it so you can make your own memories and enjoy this experience your way!
