Personally I believe that staying in a hotel is a great way to get away from our everyday routine. FAMILY getaways helps us bond, relax, and enjoy quality time while exploring new areas.
Last Saturday happened to be my birthday during EID vacation. All the hotels were either fully booked or ridiculously expensive, but my husband found 1 available room at Portaluna Hotel and Resort . It was posted at a very affordable price and on FULL BOARD basis!!
As a first reaction I was totally alarmed. I've always ignored all hotels located in Maameltein area. This Busy street is famous of its night clubs and very rated street life!
However, upon reading many positive online reviews we felt more at ease, and decided to give it a try.
Here's how it was...
Reception / Lobby Area
The staff are simply wonderful. Very attentive, courteous, and extremely helpful. You will feel their friendly spirits from the second you check-in till you check-out.
The lobby is well furnished, with a mixture of well integrated modern and antique style. Famous and motivational quotes decorating most of its walls. While you're waiting for your check-in; you can enjoy reading vast amount of hand written comment cards left by satisfied customers decorating glass covered tables and counter tops, or you can sit on the big comfy leather sofa and enjoy complimentary cold / hot refreshments!
What we loved was the big window with amazing view overlooking the entire Bay of Jounieh. In front of us was the landing spot of the Harisa paragliding enthusiasts which was very entertaining for the kids to watch. Our room had no balcony and windows opened upwards (total safe for families with young kids especially on such a high level)
Along with the complimentary refreshment tray and kettle you have a fully stocked mini fridge, laundry service, and room service.
FREE WIFI is also available throughout the entire hotel (just be careful as it always resets when not active)
View from Room
We found their open buffet, healthy, tasty and with a very home made feeling. However, to enjoy this open buffet you have to respect the serving time of each meal. Yet, you can always enjoy other many options provided in the menu.
GYM & SPA area
The recreational area provides water, towels, a hair dryer, first aid kit and music.
Garden & Swimming Pool
There's a patio and garden connected to the area, however as a parent I had to the following concerns:
- The surrounding building that overlooked this entire space had indecent people on their balconies at times (late evening). It's not the hotel's fault and I'm not sure if they can do anything regarding this issue knowing the area.
- Another missing factor was the kid's playground. There was only one available toy suitable for babies and not younger kids.
My Birthday cake.
My husband arranged for this extra special treat to be sent to our room with the assistance of the hotel staff.
All In all, we really had a very pleasant FAMILY stay, we loved this hotel, it's service, and friendly staff.
