I started checking for any same day availability and I came across Byblos Guest House!
I read reviews and pictures online (booking.com) and saw that the place got very high ratings (8.3 / 10 to be exact!)
We called and they had an available room for $50!! Of course we booked it, after all how bad can it be!!
We made it to the hotel past 3:00 p.m in the afternoon!
Upon arrival we got to see exterior of the building and figured out it's more a furnished apartment than an guest house!
Very old building, Entrance was poor, nothing fancy about it and place lacked any charm, yet we went on and paid our room!
Next came the elevator, super tiny it didn't fit the 4 of us!! So we went up on 2 rounds!
Although they assured us it was ready for check in, yet we found out they had switched off the electricity and ice melted in the mini fridge and floor was all wet!! Next we figured out there's no towels nor shower gel in the room!
Lady owner came up apologizing, cleaning lady mopped the floor, and they provided us with our towels (They smelled clean but had stains all over!!)
Room was very spacious but super outdated! Very old desks and wardrobes, and even bed covers had stains on them :(
Broken old furniture thrown in the hallway, empty shampoo bottle thrown around!!
Big spacious room, easy access to Jbeil and all the nearby restaurants and supermarkets, Free WiFi available, in-room mini fridge, and hot water!
We had the chance to visit around and explore new places without the hassle of driving back home in the heat!!
I think you get what you pay for and this is what you get for a $50/night !!
- We went for a quick lunch in our favourite restaurant in Jbeil.
- Drove up to Annaya and visited Mar Charbel and enjoyed a very needed and spiritual afternoon.
- Went back for a yummy ice cream in Jbeil right in time to enjoy amazing sunset, pass by the public garden and run around, and last but not least enjoyed a nice family walk in the old town of Jbeil!!
Next day, we checked out early, had a yummy breakfast at Dunkin Donut before we drove up for a road trip in Laklouk.
Finally we ended up in Ehmej and got to explore and try a very nice and charming New hidden Gem :) La Vallée Blanche: A hidden Restaurant & Farm Gem!So you see, in the end it wasn't that bad :)
