My son always had a special interest in Lego yet he was always on the look out for new designs to build, new challenges to tackle and so when Mrs. Joelle Bchara owner of
Cranium STEAM Education Platform contacted me for a visit and attend a "LEGO Robotics for kids (6-10Y) session",
I simply couldn't say NO!!
It was such a pleasant and interesting experience (which my son is still eagerly talking about) and I had to share it with you!
Cranium STEAM Education Platform
It is an innovative educational platform and its mission is to inspire and motivate the upcoming generations about science, technology, engineering and art or what is commonly called today STEAM activities.
Contrary to the classical academical curriculum to which kids are exposed in traditional schools, CRANIUM’s concept is based on the multiple intelligences theory developed by Thomas Gardner. The philosopher believed in eight different intelligences to cover a larger range of human potential in children and adults (musical–rhythmic, visual–spatial, verbal–linguistic, logical–mathematical, bodily–kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal and naturalistic).
The objective of CRANIUM is to provide kids and youth with activities that build and nurture their innate skills and intelligences by teaching them the latest methods in creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, and teamwork. Through its activities, CRANIUM will provide an interactive approach to orient people towards their hidden skills. This project is also part of an identified need of guidance among youth since their schools work essentially on applied sciences far from the domains in which they wish to specialize. CRANIUM will focus on diverting the minds of our young generation to a new level of thinking, thus enabling them to build the pylons of their future careers or simply learn new skills that will entertain them and divert them. This project also aims on raising awareness among parents to support their children in their aspirations and interests that seem “outside the box”.

My son took a seat in front of a laptop and Mr. Charbel calmly explained to him idea of this session and what he will learn and how to use tools and material provided to him.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Joelle explained to us what is LEGO Education WeDo, ( it is a hands-on, unique & engaging solution that motivate and inspires students to explore, create, and share their scientific discoveries as they build, program, and modify projects).
Program combines:
- LEGO® bricks
- kids-friendly software
Results?
By the end of the workshop, each child will be empowered with a resource that builds his confidence to ask questions, define problems, and design their own solutions by putting scientific discovery in their hands.
I had my 4 years with me and she engaged herself with a selection of stimulating games carefully laying around (lego - play dough - puzzles - mind games...) while I kept sneaking in and out on my son and observe how taken and excited he was!
